Looking for any info on William Boggs, He is listed in the 1800, 1810, and 1820 census of Somerset County, Md. He most likely came to Md. from Virginia's eastern shore. He married Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Samuel Smith, sometime before 1800. I have found no other listing of the Boggs name in Somerset County prior to William. I have info on the children of William and Elizabeth if any one needs it.

Betty B. Chandler (2899z@gte.com), Sun Nov 16 21:34:14 EST 1997

Looking for my early VA lines. Descendants of Richard Murfee and wife Mary Byrd (Bird) included sons Richard, Arthur and Simon I. I am interested in the descendants of Simon I; his descendant, Mary Rebecca Murfee m. Richard Barrett. While the other sons left the area, my line stayed in and around Surry, Isle of Wight, Southampton, etc. My Barrett line and the Murfees gave their children many of the Eastern VA surnames as givens. Goodrich, Lightfoot, Wills, Miles, Armistead, Burwell. Also, line ties to Bolitha Laws of MD whose ancestors migrated to Hampton VA area. He was a contractor and provided services for the Government at Fortress Monroe in and before 1812. Names which tie to this line and are found on the Eastern Shore of MD and VA are Beavens, Bosmans, Powell and Spiers. Any info appreciated. I have substantial info on some lines, which I would be happy to share with others seeking the same lines.

Barb Reinking (BAR3918@aol.com), Sat Nov 8 13:53:30 EST 1997

My family first appeared in records as non-citizens in Fredericksburg, Va. in the year 1785. The name has been spelled many ways but the phonetic sound that was recorded was Separk. My ancestors given names were Henri, Angelique and Antoine (LeParc,LeParque, SeParc, SeParque) or any French spelling that produces the above sound, even LeBarque, Lebarc, Dubarque, Dubarc or Cyrperque. I am interested in ships that came into the area around 1780s that might have a passenger list or manifest. They settled in Fredericksburg in 1785 and we want very much to learn where we came from originally. Can anyone give me a list of ships that might have brought immigrants from any part of Europe during the 1780 time span? Can anyone tell me how I might find out the names of such ships? There is only one family of Separks in the USA and I would so much appreciate any help. Thank you, B. Reinking

James Dennis (jdennis@netset.com), Mon Oct 20 17:15:17 EDT 1997

Hello everybody

I have traced back to my great-great-grandfather, Daniel Dennis, b 15 AUG 1830 in or around Ross County/Deerfield Township, OH or Pickaway County/Perry Township, OH. I believe his father to be Jonathan Dennis, but as yet have been unable to verify this. If anyone has any data that would help, I would appreciate it.

Also, we have word of mouth accounts passwd down through the family that our ancestor, John Dennis, came over on the ship Merchant's Hope, from Gravesend, England in 1635. I have checked the ships log, and there was indeed a John Dennis that was on the ship. They settled in Accomack Co, VA. From there, I lose track of where he went next. I feel certain that he was my ancestor. If anyone knows how I may continue that trace, I would welcome the help.

I believe (Conjecture here!) that the Dennis family migrated north through Virginia into Maryland , then traversed westward through West Virginia into Ohio by way of Marietta, possibly around 1790-1800.

Thanks

Jamie

My dad has done quite a bit of research into our history, but has run into a road block. I am hoping to find some information to bridge the gap.

Here is what he knows: The earliest documented connection is to SAMUEL CAMPBELL CLEGG born in Virginia circa 1735. Married BARBARA FLICK. If my memory serves me correctly, this SAMUEL CAMPBELL CLEGG was hanged as a Tory in 1779 in Ninety Six, SC.

Here is what he THINKS: ->SAMUEL CAMBELL CLEGG was either the son or grandson of HOLLOWAY CLEGG (b. unknown to us, but his will was probated April 14, 1752), ->HOLLOWAY was the son of PETER CLEGG (b.Feb. 12, 1678 in England, d. 1749 in Virginia) ->PETER was the son of JOHN CLEGG (b.1656 in England & d.1704 in Northhampton,VA. Johnny Weeks (upiu804Aaol.com), Mon Jun 30 14:26:09 EDT 1997

I'm looking for my ggggrandfather WEEKS. Family history says that there were 4 brothers who were ship builders in Virginia, my ggggrandfather was one of the four brothers. For some reason three of the brothers left Virginia. One to Floride, Kentucky and Georgia. The WEEKS that moved to Georgia is the one I'm looking for. He had a son WILLIAM HANNIBAL WEEKS who married ROXANNA A. WRIGHT in 1857 in Pulaski County Georgia. If you know any ship builders in Virginia prior to 1857 with the WEEKS name I would like to hear from you. Thanks

Johnny Weeks

I am searching for confirmation of Arthur Hickman's marriages. He is the father of Sotha Hickman. Arthur was born 1712 in Sommerset County, Maryland. East Shore. Arthur is listed as having children named Roger b.1730, Anibeler Tabby b 1738, William b 1746, Sotha b 1748, Elizabeth Betty b abt 1750, and Catherine b 1754. I want to know who is the mother of these children. Especially Sotha as he is the ancestor we decended from. The Douglas boys, Samuel and Levi were born about 1739 and 1741. Ron Matthews (rmatth2923@aol.com), Sun May 4 19:21:04 EDT 1997

I am interested in the genealogy of the Boole family (My great-great grandfather was JD Boole, who lived in Northern Northampton County, born 1870, died 1969, buried at Red Bank Baptist Church, his father was Patrick Bool. In addition, another great grandfather was Lloyd Abel Joynes, also buried at Red Bank. My Matthews relatives hail from the Rehobeth and Kingston Maryland area in Somerset County in Maryland, but I believe that this part of the family can also be traced back to Northampton Cty.

On my wife's side of the family, I am interested in information about the Godwin and White families from the Sanford, Va area, in addition to the Gibbons family of Tangier Island. Any assistance you may be able to give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Ron Matthews
