87. ROBERT HENRY⁶ MARSHALL (ESME⁵, THOMAS⁴, JOHN³, THOMAS², JOHN¹) (#369) was born in Worchester Co MD about 1750. Robert was named in the will of his grandfather, Robert Nairn, February 3, 1764.

He married twice. He married MARY "POLLY" WHITTINGTON in Worchester Co MD, about 1780. (notes of Jim Marshall) (MARY "POLLY" WHITTINGTON is #370.)

MARY was born in Worchester Co MD about 1758. MARY was the daughter of SOUTHY WHITTINGTON and ESTHER NAIRN. MARY died after May 9, 1803 in Somerset Co MD, at approximately 44 years of age. Mary's sister, Jeanitt Whittington, names Mary in her May 9, 1803 will. Robert married 2nd Esther Fountain by license of July 11, 1803 Somerset Co., widow of ___ Hall. (will of Jeanitt Whittington 1803; Jim Marshall; C. H. Marshall, Sr. & William Marshall Scott) See Whittington Family Journal.

He married ESTHER FOUNTAIN HALL in Somerset Co MD, July 11, 1803. Robert called her Esther Fountain in his will. (ESTHER FOUNTAIN HALL is #374.)

ESTHER died 1815 in Somerset Co., MD. The marriage record shows Esther with surname Hall. Robert calls her Esther Fountain in his will. No marriage record has been found of an Esther Fountain to a Hall; however, it is suspect that she was the widow of a Hall related to Robert's daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hall.

He made a will Princess Anne, Somerset Co., MD, May 26, 1814. Robert and his family lived at "Tarso", inherited from his uncle, John Nairn in 1771. "Tarso" was located west of the Pocomoke River (a little over a mile) and about two miles south of the Rehobeth Plantation. It adjoined "Pimore" and "Nairn's Addition" and bordered "Late Discovery" on the southern line. (about half-way between the towns of Rehobeth and Shelltown and Rehobeth Road probably runs through the old property) Robert is shown paying the 1783 taxes. Members of the family continued at "Tarso" under Robert's grandson sold it to Isaac T. Marshall. (notes of William Marshall Scott & C. Hayward Marshall, Sr.)

ROBERT HENRY MARSHALL and MARY "POLLY" WHITTINGTON had the following children:

+ 226 i. ROBERT NAIRN⁷ MARSHALL was born May 4, 1780.

227 ii. ELIZABETH MARSHALL (#7226) was born in Somerset Co. MD about 1783. ELIZABETH died before May 26, 1814 at approximately 30 years of age. Betty's name (or any descendants) is not found in her father's will of 1814. She is shown as a daughter of Robert and Mary who died between 1806 and 1814 in "The Littleton Heritage" by Matthew Wise.

+ 228 iii. ESTHER MARSHALL was born about 1787.

+ 229 iv. MARY JACKSON MARSHALL was born 1795.
