27. WILLIAM³ STURGIS (DANIEL², JOHN¹) birth date unknown. WILLIAM died 1751 in Accomack Co., VA.

He married MARTHA (wife of William Sturgis). William inherited land from his father at A118, which he left to Martha and then to son William. (Ralph T. Whitelaw, Virginia's Eastern Shore, p. 1134) His will was dated January 7, 1745/6, probated January 29, 1750/51. He named wife Martha and sons William and Joshua, Isaiah, Jacob and daughters Martha, Elizabeth, Bathsheba and Mary Coverly. He said that the balance of the estate was to be divided between the rest of my children. (Stratton Nottingham, Wills & Administrations of Accomack Co., VA, p. 159)

WILLIAM STURGIS and MARTHA (wife of William Sturgis) had the following children:

65 i. WILLIAM⁴ STURGIS. William inherited his father's land at A118 which was left by his father to his mother and then to him. The land eventually was in the hands of his sister, Bathsheba Dix. (Ralph T. Whitelaw, Virginia's Eastern Shore, p. 1134-5)

66 ii. BATHSHEBA STURGIS. BATHSHEBA died 1799 in Accomack Co., VA. She married LEVIN DIX. She directed in her will of 1799 that land at A118 be sold. (Ralph T. Whitelaw, Virginia's Eastern Shore, p. 1135)

67 iii. JOSHUA STURGIS.

69 v. JACOB STURGIS.

70 vi. MARTHA STURGIS.

71 vii. ELIZABETH STURGIS.

72 viii. MARY STURGIS. She married (N) COVERLY before 1751.
