47. JOSHUA⁴ STURGIS (JOHN³, JOHN², JOHN¹) birth date unknown. JOSHUA died 1792 in Worcester Co., MD.

He married RACHEL (wife of Joshua Sturgis). He is cited in the will of his brother, John. He is most probably the Joshua Sturgis Sr. living in Wicomico Hundred, Worcester, in 1783. Also probably the Joshua Sr. who was a Revolutionary Patriot. He bought "Safeguard" from David Cathell as Joshua Sturgis of John in 1774. In 1783 he is shown with tracts "Addition" in Wicomico Hundred, Somerset, "Safeguard," and "Manor Land." 3M, 5F.

JOSHUA STURGIS and RACHEL (wife of Joshua Sturgis) had the following children:

117 ii. WILLIAM STURGIS. William received "Addition" in Somerset County.

118 iii. JOSHUA STURGIS. He received land (unnamed).

119 iv. JOHN STURGIS. JOHN died about 1795. This is probably the John Sturgis who died about 1795 and whose wife was Susanna. Next of kin were Joshua Sturgis and Molly Richardson. In 1783, he had 1M and 4F in Wicomico Hundred with properties "Friend's Goodwill," and "Winder's Addition."
