Asparagus Caesar

3 pounds fresh asparagus spears
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
Lemon slices ( optional )

Snap off tough ends of asparagus; remove scales with a knife or vegetable peeler, if desired. Cook asparagus, covered in a small amount of boiling water 6 to 8 minutes or until crisp - tender. Drain. Place asparagus in a 12 x 8 x 2 - inch baking dish. Combine butter and lemon juice; pour over asparagus. Sprinkle cheese and paprika over asparagus. Place under broiler until browned. Garnish asparagus with lemon slices, if desired. Serves 12
