The landfills are open 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
The landfills are closed on Sundays, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Authorized Use
In general, only solid waste generated and originated within the county is accepted at the landfills. On a case by case basis, the Accomack County Board of Supervisors may approve a variance.
Acceptable Waste
The landfills accept most waste that can be described as Commercial, Construction, or Household wastes.
Unacceptable Waste
The landfills are specifically prohibited from accepting Hazardous Wastes. As a general guide, the following items or materials are prohibited:
- hazardous waste including asbestos material and regulated medical waste
- animal carcasses
- liquids
- vehicles, farm equipment, construction equipment, etc.
- closed drums
- slaughterhouse waste
- unapproved seafood by-product waste
- unapproved industrial process waste
- unapproved sewage sludge
- pressurized containers with valves intact (eg., propane tanks)
