9/15/2010 Northampton County has executed the contract for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant. Construction is expected to proceed soon. This contract specifies for the drilling of over 150 wells for the new Geothermal heating and air conditioning systems of the Administration building, old Courthouse and former ...jail. A-NPDC is assisted the county with applying for and complying with the grant requirements.
7/30/2010 DHCD has approved a planning grant of up to $25,000 for Mary N. Smith School.The next step is to complete preliminary planning. The work completed from this grant will go toward writing an application from DHCD for funds to complete improvements to the site.
7/27/2010 "Nandua" repair work commences. The A-NTDC, not to be confused with the A-NPDC, and Bay Coast Railroad has begun repairs to the railcar float barge that brings materials from Little Creek, Norfolk. The repairs are being funded by a grant from the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation and a loan from A-NPDC's ESV Revolving Loan Fund. Repair specifications and field survey have been completed.
7/15/2010 A-NPDC staff met with the VA Coastal Zone Management Program and the Wachapreague Park Planning Committee today to discuss a potential Plant Eastern Shore Natives Demonstration Garden in the new Wachapreague Park. The A-NPDC has helped Wachapreague attain funds from the VA Dept. of Conservation and Recreation to help the town develop their new park at the site of the former Wachapreague Hotel.
7/9/2010 The A-NPDC has received a $58,000 allocation from VDOT for continued transportation planning on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
7/9/2010 The A-NPDC continues to partner with the Health Department on the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program. The A-NPDC has written a successful $23,188 application, on behalf of the Health Department, and will also provide housing inspection services for eligible residents of the Eastern Shore.
6/23/2010 Tangier Medical Center featured on National Public Radio. The building is now 90% complete. The USDA has recently offered $50,000 to purchase a digital X-ray machine.
6/23/2010 The Accomack-Northampton Regional Housing Authority has been awarded $99,277 from the Department of Housing and Community Development to provide the Homeless Intervention Program again for Fiscal Year 2011.

Accomac, Virginia 23301 From the South The A-NPDC offices are in the Town of Accomac, which is about 50 miles north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. From the Bridge-Tunnel, travel north on US Highway 13 about 50 miles. Turn right onto Front Street at the first stoplight after the only overpass on this section of the highway. Continue on Front Street into the center of Accomac. The A-NPDC office is at 23372 Front Street (on the right-hand side, between SunTrust Bank and the Post Office). Park on the street or behind the building.
From the North The A-NPDC offices are in the Town of Accomac, which is about 20 miles south of the Maryland state line. From the state line, travel south on US Highway 13 about 20 miles. Turn left onto Business Route 13 at the sign for Accomac. Stay on Business Route 13 (Front Street). The A-NPDC office is at 23372 Front Street (on the left-hand side, between the Post Office and SunTrust Bank). Park on the street or behind the building.
