About the Artist

"As a native Virginian I visited the Eastern Shore for almost 40 years before moving here permanently in 1989. Since I was a child I have been attracted to this area of natural beauty. preening yellow legs While visiting Chincoteague, I noticed thousands of decoys in many shops. I became particularly interested in the art of decorative decoys after attending a local wildfowl art show."

"I bought a how-to book and a piece of wood and carved my first decoy. After several years of practice, reading books and magazines, going to shows, taking pictures of ducks in the wild and taking classes offered by well known carvers, I began to develop my own style." feeding yeloow legs

"I especially enjoy carving gunning style ducks and shorebirds in a style that incorporates the traditional methods with a contemporary interpretation. All of my decoys have a slightly aged look with a waxed patina. I have attended a number of shows in the past few months and have won several ribbons, including a BEST-IN-SHOW in the shorebird category. My hobby has evolved into a major occupation and my decoys are presently offered for sale in specialty shops in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina."
