Doodle Drawing with Abrakadoodle (ages 3-5 yrs) :
Wednesdays April 9th-30th from 3:15 - 4:15. Our drawing program for mini doodlers will help young children learn to “see”. We will concentrate on circles, lines, and shapes rather than details to combine into a “big picture”. Pencils, markers and many other exciting materials will be used in this fun drawing session. Cost: $48.

Elementary Drawing with Abrakadoodle (ages 5-12 yrs): Wednesdays April 9th-30th from 4-5 p.m.: Come join the fun and learn to draw figures, animals, and more with Abrakadoodle. Students will learn to draw familiar objects and figures with step by step instructions and challenges. We will talk about everything you want to know about drawing with exciting art materials. Each child will have ample opportunity to personalize their artwork. Cost: $48.

Movie Premiere of the Hog Island Documentary “Our Island Home”:
Thursday, April 24th at 7 p.m. Director/ filmmaker James Spione will host the debut screening of the documentaries on 3 Hog Island natives. Free.

Bill Portlock-Photography exhibit and sale opening, “Then and Now: A Natural History Show of the Chesapeake Bay and the Barrier Islands”:
Friday, May 16th at 6 p.m. Wine and cheese reception. A donation of $6 is requested. Exhibit and sale through June 15th.

BIC 6th Birthday Party:
Sunday, June 1st from 1-3 p.m. Come sit on the front porch, have some lemonade & cake in honor of the BIC turning 6! Kids- help us celebrate our birthday with a fun art activity. Free Abrakadoodle art project for kids with Monika Bridgforth from 1-3 p.m.

Mini-Pirate Camp for the Little Buccaneers (ages 3-5 yrs):
Tuesday, June 24th- Thursday, June 26th from 9-11:30. The “big kids” had so much fun with this camp we decided to offer it again for the younger crew. Come aboard to create pirate ships, colorful parrots, treasure maps, sea monsters, ship flags, doubloon necklaces, treasure chests and more! Our little buccaneers will explore cartooning, origami, sand painting, sculpture, cartography, and much more using their very own pirate kit. At the end of the camp kids will take home the rest of their pirate kit to extend the fun at home. Materials fee includes all materials, props, games, stories, and music used in class as well as take home kit. Arrrrgh! $75 for camp.

Guy Wilkins Art Exhibit Opening, "Above, Under, Beside, and On the Sea":
Saturday, June 28th at 6 p.m. Wine and cheese will be served. Free. Mr. Wilkin's paintings will hang through July.

Blackbeard the Pirate: Saturday, August 9th from 10-11 a.m. Relive the 17th &18th centuries with this infamous pirate. Blackbeard is brought to life in this one man show. Suitable for the entire family. It’s historic fun! Cost: $6 per person.

Ocean Explorers Camp (ages 5-12 yrs): Tuesday, August 19th through August 22nd from 9-12. Watch out below! Students will take a colorful journey to the underwater world. They will do colorful fish projects and many others using a wide variety of mediums. There may be a few fish tales tossed around too! Cost: $100.

Carving Class with Arthur Leonard: Saturday and Sunday September 20th & 21st from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants will learn to carve a drake hood merganser (hairy head) duck using cottonwood. Cost :$ 100 for 2 day class, includes instruction and materials.

Sea Glass Jewelry Making Class with Peggy Thornton:
Wednesday, September 24th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Come and learn a simple way to turn sea glass into a gorgeous finished black leather necklace with the wrapped sea glass pendant. Cost: $42 includes tools, materialsÊand sea glass.

BIC Speaker Series: Traditional Foodways of the Eastern Shore with Bernie Herman: Wednesday, October 15th at 6 p.m. Free.

Children’s Carving Class: Learning the Importance of Tradition: Saturday, October 25th from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Come sit around the pot belly stove with carver P.G. Ross and hear stories of duck hunting and good old common sense wisdom while learning the basics of carving. (7-16 yrs old)
