Sweaters, Jackets and Jewelry

These award-winning sweaters are a delight to own and to wear. Color and motif are very important to the designs.

Each
earthdesign® sweater is 100% cotton and incorporates images and designs from the natural world. There are often 10 or more distinct motifs and up to 14 different colors in each sweater. The designers use a sophisticated color palette and many of the yarns are dyed to their specifications. Designs are seldom duplicated, so each garment is different from every other piece.

Mary Miller and David Handschur hand-loom each sweater, one-by-one, start to finish, using hand operated knitting looms. A turn-of-the-century prototype of their looms can be found in the Smithsonian Institution.

Semi-precious stones and faceted glass beads are combined with a painter's eye to produce a collection of irresistible necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

Freshwater pearls are used either alone, or with forged gold or kiln-formed glass pendants, to create elegant, one-of-a-kind necklaces.

Studio jewelry is created from metal, glass, paper and gemstone beads by designer Mary Miller.  Special work, often incorporating bits and pieces of a customer's own jewelry, may be ordered.
