Fruit Farm Safe & Enjoyable Visit Our intent is for our customers to have a safe and most
enjoyable visit with us. Please
make sure you read the ³how we operate² section or in the flyer available at
the farm. If you need help,
please do not hesitate to ask us.
There are restroom facilities in the barn and, of course, in our
house. The barn facilities are kept locked because of past vandalism. Please
ask as you may have need. A
parent or guardian must accompany children. You will find a potable water faucet by the fruit farm
office. Again, our fruit farm is located on Butchers Creek --
tidal marshes and waters surround it.
Please be aware that water hazards do exist and instruct your children
accordingly. Refer either to the
farm map in the office or layout selection on the main website page that
identifies the water hazard areas. Specifically, there is a small, deep-water pond
surrounded by pine and locust trees to the left of the barn. Do not allow your children near this
area. There is an abundance of wildlife, which you may see
including deer, foxes, quail, turkeys, eagles, osprey, bluebirds, swallows
and other songbirds. You may
also see various turtles and possibly ³friendly² snakes such as black racers,
black snakes, hog-nose snakes and king snakes. Obviously, observe them but do not interfere. Please let us know if you have
concerns or need help with a particular situation. At times, there are ³pesty² biting insects and ticks
present. Therefore, please plan
to bring your favorite bug repellent (and sunscreen). People should dress accordingly for
the weather and the possible presence of ³pesty² insects. A high DEET concentrate repellant
seems to work best. Also we try
hard to control poison ivy in the plantings. If you see any poison ivy, please report it to us. July 30. 2008 |
