How we operate Our Mason Beach Fruit Farm operates in a “you-pick” mode using the honor system with respect to payment. We have used the U-pick/ honor system for the past six seasons, and in the spirit of what the previous owner had done. Prices for the all berries or small fruit are now 0.75¢/lb (from 0.65¢/lb). Other large fruit items (apples, pears, peaches, apricots, etc.) remain at 0.50¢/lb.
The farm is open to all who come to pick fruit, and our hope is that you will enjoy our farm surroundings as well on the bay front. Family and supervised youth groups are most welcomed. New customers should come down
the driveway to the Fruit Farm office, the small white building on the right
of the drive. Inside you will
find information on weighing and what’s currently ripe. If possible, please bring your
own packing containers. Some
plastic bags and picking buckets are available in the office When you have finished your picking,
please come back to the office for final weighing and payment using the scale
in the office. Follow the
weighing instructions and weight– price lookup tables as needed on the
bulletin board. Also, there are several pole pickers by the office for your use on the taller fruit trees – please return them when finished. Please refer to the U-Pick schedule on web main page that summarizes when the various berries and fruits are expected to be ripening and the time span of harvest. Also we keep updated Fruit Farm Message sheets with the picking schedule printed on the back in the office and in a box on the bulletin board at the entrance to the farm. Note that the season will start in late June with blackberries, boysenberries and apricots, and continue into July and August with blueberries, plums, Asian pears, regular pears and early apples, and then into the fall with varieties of mid to late season apples and red raspberries.
