Welcome Message for Subscribers:
Remember
that your messages to this list are sent to everyone on the list; if you want
only limited recipients, you should use the recipients' individual e-mail
address(es) or use a distribution list or nickname list set up through your
e-mail program to send such messages to one or more recipients. [This list is
separate and distinct from the FIRE-EMS list server which should be used for
more specific issues related to fire and EMS.] You may be restricted from posting to this list by default;
contact the list administrator for posting privileges.
Please
save this message for future reference, especially if this is the first time
you subscribe to an electronic mailing list. If you ever need to leave the
list, you will find the necessary instructions below. Perhaps more importantly,
saving a copy of this message (and of all future subscription notices from
other mailing lists) in a special mail folder will give you instant access to
the list of mailing lists that you are subscribed to. This may prove very
useful the next time you go on vacation and need to leave the lists temporarily
so as not to fill up your mailbox while you are away! You should also save the
"welcome messages" from the list owners that you will occasionally
receive after subscribing to a new list.
IMPORTANT.... PLEASE READ!
Commercial advertising by vendors is prohibited.
Stations and agency representatives may, however, advertise surplus equipment
and/or discuss commercial products of benefit to operations.
Subscription Policy: Anyone who is an integral part
of the emergency management and/or public safety network in Accomack County,
Northampton County, or the Town of Chincoteague may join this list. Emergency
management staff of outside agencies and organizations providing support to
Eastern Shore emergency management agencies are welcome to join the list. If
you anticipate an e-mail address change, please notify us ahead of time; you
may unsubscribe from your old address and subscribe from your new address, or
otherwise send an e-mail message to the list administrator. If you lose your
account (and the messages begin to bounce back to me and multiply in my
mailbox) you will be removed from the list. We reserve the right to remove
anyone from the list for violations of security or list abuse.
** IMPORTANT REMINDER .. IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR
WITH INTERNET LISTS **
TO REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THIS LIST, send e-mail to EMNet-REQUEST@ESVA.NET

Best wishes for success. Hope you enjoy this

List Server Tips for your information:
TIP #1...
1. When you automatically reply to a ListServ
message using your "reply" option, your reply message will most
likely be sent to everyone on the list. Most mail programs will bring up a
header for the reply. Look at the address following the "To" to
determine where your reply is headed. If it reads or includes the list server
address, then everyone will get the message. If you want to reply only to the
sender of the message, you need to change the address. Most programs will allow
you to change the address in the reply header; move to the "To" field
and either backspace or delete out the address shown. Replace it with the
address of the individual sender. (If this is not an option which works for
you, you will need to compose a new message to the sender for an individual
reply.)
2. The address of the individual sender will
usually be contained somewhere in the head of the message you received.
However, Internet server interfaces translate differently, so some subscribers
may not actually get the address of the actual sender from the header. They may
get only the ListServ address. Thus, if you send a message for which you
anticipate individual replies, it is recommended to include your e-mail address
in a signature block (sample below) which is located in the body rather than
the header. The sender may choose to indicate that replies be sent to their
address in the text. If you include your e-mail address in your
"Signature" option, it will be automatic.
3. When should you reply to the list versus the
sender? If your comments will be of interest to multiple subscribers that you
cannot address individually or to most subscribers as a matter of information,
comment, or interest, then reply or send to the ListServ address (standard
reply). If only the sender needs your answer or if you only want to comment
directly to the sender, then reply directly to the sender's address.
4. Announcements of general events and meetings
generally should not need a reply; if a reply is requested, it would generally
be sent directly to the sender's address.
5. Making the correct choice will minimize
unnecessary traffic not needed by all subscribers. (If everyone replied to a
given message using the ListServ reply address, everyone's e-mail inbox would
be packed with over 100 reply messages.)
TIP #2...
As indicated above, Internet server interfaces
translate differently, so some subscribers may not actually get the address of
the actual sender from the header. They may get only the ListServ address.
Thus, if you send a message or reply, it is recommended to include your full
name as a signature line or in a signature block following your text. (If you
use an automatic signature file in your e-mail program, this is handled for
you.)
Now that you're totally confused, please relax and
utilize the information which is generated. For the newest of users of both
e-mail and this list server, welcome to a new and exciting challenge. If you
have questions, please feel free to contact me or your closest computer geek
for assistance.
