Department Information and Goals
The Facility Management Department provides the maintenance and repairs of all County owned property, equipment and facilities other than vehicles, and property owned by the school system. This department provides: basic maintenance, repairs and installation of building related mechanical equipment, electrical systems, plumbing, sanitation, and furnishings; maintenance of interiors and exteriors of buildings, parking lots, boat ramps, no-wake signs, fences and similar structures; support of the emergency services department during hurricanes, winter storms and similar events; support of the landfill during staffing shortages.
Goals
- To enhance existing aquiculture industry and promote tourism by providing quality maintenance of County property used by commercial watermen; enhancing existing recreational fishing facilities, boat ramps and piers.
- The Department will seek to improve publicly owned property to promote "Village Square" environment.
- To plan and control capital expenditures for infrastructure and services, in a fiscally responsible manner, the Department will identify capital expenditures relating to the maintenance of County property to create a long range maintenance plan. Cost will be limited to time expended by county employees, estimated at 120 hours.
