Meet the publisher
Sheepdog Press began publishing in 2002 with its first book, The Hidden Key. Already in its second printing, The Hidden Key has been enjoyed by thousands of children.

Sheepdog Press was the brainchild of a beautiful champion Old English Sheepdog, Nelly. After a successful career in the show ring, she settled down to her full time job, taking care of the Tweedie family. Then in 2002, she decided to try her paw at the publishing business. Always fond of children, she thought a childrens' book would be the place to start. Her first idea was to publish her autobiography, A Tale Without a Tail, but when she read the first few chapters of The Hidden Key one night, she was hooked. She worked tirelessly alongside the author, Karen, encouraging her every step of the way. Nelly was there from beginning to end, editing, suggesting ideas for illustrations, and even licking all the envelopes when the books were mailed out.

Nelly, the Publisher Nelly enjoyed the publishing business so much, she encouraged Karen to write a sequel to The Hidden Key. Nelly has now passed on, but left behind detailed outlines for Karen to follow for several more stories. The second book, Treasure on Chincoteague Island, was written in Nelly's memory, and Karen knows that Nelly is watching over her as she writes.

Daisy, the new publisher Sheepdog Press now has a new publisher-in-training, the lovely young sheepdog, Daisy. Although still quite new to publishing, Daisy has shown great aptitude already. Look at Daisy's Photo Album. She ate a complete first editon copy of The Hidden Key and she listens to chapters of the new book each night as a bedtime story. She is excited that she was able to help get Book 2, Treasure on Chincoteague Island, published and into the hands of eager readers. She is also working on a new story, but she's being doggone secretive about that right now! We'll just have to wait to see what she has in store for us.
