Marinated Mushrooms


2 to 3 lb. mushrooms with stems attached
1 cup salad oil
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup cider vinegar
2 Tblsp. catsup
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. instant mince garlic
1/4 tsp. gound thyme
4 to 6 bay leaves
1 tsp. salt ( more if desired )
1 tsp pepper
1 medium onion, sliced

Simmer mushrooms in salted water for 5 minutes, drain. Combine all ingredients, except mushrooms. Pour mixture over mushrooms and marinate for at least 24 hours, stirring or turning occasionally. Drain well before serving.
