749. MARY VIRGINIA "JENNIE"⁹ MARSHALL (CHARLES THOMAS⁸, ROBERT NAIRN⁷, ROBERT HENRY⁶, ESME⁵, THOMAS⁴, JOHN³, THOMAS², JOHN¹) (#403) was born in Somerset Co MD October 16, 1850. MARY died June 15, 1932 at 81 years of age.

She married JOSEPH COULBOURN (COLEBURN OR COLBURN) WHITTINGTON in Somerset Co MD, May 31, 1871. (JOSEPH COULBOURN (COLEBURN OR COLBURN) WHITTINGTON is #432.) JOSEPH was born June 16, 1849. JOSEPH was the son of SOUTHY FASSIT WHITTINGTON and MARY WHITTINGTON MARSHALL. Joe enlisted in the Union army at age 15 and was given an honorable discharge when it was discovered he was under age. Joe and Jennie were living in Kansas City, MO and then moved to Gold Hill in Monrovia, CA. Joe was a tailor and worked in Los Angeles. (C. Hayward Marshall, Sr., Marjorie Whittington Lankford, Edna Waddell Whittington) A twenty-two page, hand-written letter from Jane Frances Hayward, "Aunt Fannie," tells much of the life and times of the Whittington and Marshall families while Rush and his family were in California (written to C. Hayward Marshall in 1948)

JOSEPH COULBOURN (COLEBURN OR COLBURN) WHITTINGTON and MARY VIRGINIA "JENNIE" MARSHALL had the following children:

1057 ii. IDA EMILY WHITTINGTON (#435) was born November 20, 1875. IDA died 1969 at 93 years of age. She married A. ELLICOTT DOUGLASS. (A. ELLICOTT DOUGLASS is #436.)

+ 1058 iii. FLORENCE CHARLES WHITTINGTON was born February 26, 1880.

+ 1059 iv. CHARLES WILLIAM WHITTINGTON was born July 11, 1883.

+ 1060 v. JESSIE ESTELLE WHITTINGTON was born February 26, 1884.

+ 1061 vi. FRANK SOUTHY WHITTINGTON was born August 19, 1890.
