He married twice. He married MARY GERTRUDE SELBY Woodviole, MS, 1858. (MARY GERTRUDE SELBY is #14783.) He married CLARA BURDETTE 1888. (CLARA BURDETTE is #14784.)

(THOMAS BUTLER BIRDSONG (Dr.) is #14786.) THOMAS was born Preston, GA August 21, 1859. THOMAS was the son of LAFAYETTE FELIX BIRDSON (Capt.) and SARAH FRANCES STAPLETON. THOMAS died March 9, 1940 Clarksdale, MS, at 80 years of age. Their living descendants are shown in The Littleton Heritage, p. 426-428.

941 ii. MARY LOUISA PURNELL (#14787) was born Hazelhurst, Copiah Co. MS March 15, 1866. MARY died May 26, 1940 Copiah Co., MS, at 74 years of age. She married JOSEPH DOWNER STAPLETON Copiah Co., MS, January 15, 1885. (JOSEPH DOWNER STAPLETON is #14788.) JOSEPH was born Griffin, GA August 7, 1853. JOSEPH died May 20, 1903 Hazelhurst, Copiah Co., MS, at 49 years of age. Their living descendants are listed in The Littleton Heritage, p. 426-428.

942 iii. GEORGE WASHINGTON PURNELL (Jr.) (#14789) was born Hazelhurst, Copiah Co., MS June 18, 1891. GEORGE died February 7, 1960 Wichita, KS, at 68 years of age. He married KATHERINE REA Jackson, MS, March 20, 1920. (KATHERINE REA is #14792.) KATHERINE was born Hazelhurst, Copiah Co., MS October 12, 1898. Their living descendants are shown in The Littleton Heritage, p. 426-428.
