18. FRANCIS4 THOROWGOOD (ADAM3, ADAM2, WILLIAM1) was born 1665. FRANCIS died 1716 in Bath Co., NC, at 51 years of age.
He married twice. He married ELIZABETH WHITE in Somerset Co., MD, 1693. ELIZABETH was born in Somerset Co., MD October 20, 1674. (Purse & Person, p. 618) ELIZABETH was the daughter of JOHN WHITE and SARAH KEYSER.
ELIZABETH died before 1705. Elizabeth was named as eldest daughter of John White. (V. L. Skinner, Jr., Somerset Co. MD Will Book EB5, Brookeville, MD, 1987, p.21)
He married ANNE BRITTINGHAM before September 6, 1705. ANNE was the daughter of WILLIAM BRITTINGHAM (Sr.). ANNE died after 1720. She married 2nd William Webster before March 6, 1720/1. Anne and her daughters, Sarah, Ann and Yardley were named in the will of James Scott of Hyde Precinct, Beaufort Co., NC in 1720/1. (Purse & Person, p. 619) Anne and Francis Thorowgood were named in Anne's father's will in 1708. Francis was given one-half of William Brittingham's marsh land adjacent to the plantation "where I now live" in Somerset Co., MD, and was also named co-executor of William's will. (Stratton Nottingham, Wills & Administrations of Accomack Co., VA, p. 44)
He made a will in Bath Co., NC, June 8, 1714. Probate April, 1716. (Purse & Person, p. 619) Francis was the son of Adam Thorogood. He moved to Bath Co. NC by June 8, 1714. (Adventures of Purse & Person, pps. 607-619)
FRANCIS THOROWGOOD and ANNE BRITTINGHAM had the following children:
