802. JOHN FRANCIS⁹ THOROWGOOD (FRANCIS⁸, JOHN⁷, FRANCIS⁶, FRANCIS⁵, ADAM⁴, ADAM³, ADAM², WILLIAM¹) was born in VA January 23, 1817.

He married twice. He married MARY R. FENTRESS August 18, 1840. He married MARY ANTOINETTE WHITEHURST March 15, 1849. She was the daughter of William Whitehurst and Mary Lovett. It is not proved that Francis is John's father beyond circumstantial: John Francis appears in the 1850 census of Norfolk Co. and his nme was spelled "Thorogood." Francis spelled his name this was in the 1830 census of Norfolk Co.. The 1830 census also showed Francis with a son in the right age bracket to be John Francis. 1062 i. WILLIAM JOHN¹⁰ THOROWGOOD was born in Norfolk, VA March 25, 1850. WILLIAM died March 27, 1943 in Washington DC, at 93 years of age. He married ADA FORREST WILLETT in Norfolk, VA, April 28, 1880. She was the daughter of Charles Willett and Rosalind Ellington.

1063 ii. CALDONIA THOROWGOOD was born in VA December 22, 1852. CALDONIA died January, 1927 at 74 years of age. She married GEORGE A. STEVENS November 17, 1875.

1064 iii. IRENE E. THOROWGOOD was born in Norfolk, VA October 28, 1856. IRENE died January 17, 1883 at 26 years of age. She married JOSEPH A. CUTHRIELL December 12, 1877.

1065 iv. FRANCES THOROWGOOD was born in Norfolk, VA September 10, 1860. She married H. K. BAIRD.

1066 v. VIRGINIA THOROWGOOD was born Princess Anne Co., VA August 7, 1863. VIRGINIA died about 1930. She married JAMES M. LEWIS June 15, 1877.

1067 vi. FLETCHER THOROWGOOD was born in Norfolk, VA June 15, 1867. FLETCHER died February 14, 1868 at less than one year of age.

1068 vii. MARY ANTIONETTE THOROWGOOD was born in Norfolk, VA December 18, 1869. MARY died September 20, 1945 in NY, at 75 years of age. She married JOHN R. PHILLIP.
