MARY was born in Conventry Parish, Somerset Co., MD March 10, 1768. Date of birth as recorded in the back of John Drummond Marshall's prayer book. (copy at Maryland Historical Society); date from Parish records is 1767 (F. Edward Wright, MD Eastern Shore Vital Statistics Vol. 3, p. 88) MARY was the daughter of THOMAS MARSHALL and ESTHER MARSHALL**. Thomas Marshall** d. 1786 Somerset named Mary Marshall in his will as his granddaughter, "daughter of Thomas." Mary's father was Thomas Marshall son of Esme, from the Northampton family. Her mother, Esther, was daughter of Thomas d. 1786 Somerset, of the Bayside/Somerset family. Assariah Purnell took the Oath of Allegiance in Worcester County in 1778 in Buckingham Hundred before the Hon. Thomas Purnell. (Henry C.
