175. William⁶ Sturgis (John⁵, John⁴, John³, John², John¹) was born 1803. William died after 1850.

He married twice. He married First Wife before 1830. He married Mary A. Richardson in Worcester Co., MD, January 12, 1837. Mary was born about 1812. Mary was the daughter of William H. Richardson and Eleanor "Nelly" Sturgis. Mary died 1851 at 39 years of age. William appears in the 1850 census.

241 i. Margaret⁷ Sturgis was born in SC 1830.

242 ii. Martha Sturgis was born in SC 1831.

243 iii. Nancy Sturgis was born in SC 1834.

William Sturgis and Mary A. Richardson had the following children:

244 iv. Ellen R. Sturgis was born in Worcester Co., MD September 7, 1838. Ellen died April 8, 1915 at 76 years of age. She married Major S. J. Dawson in Worcester Co., MD, 1868. Major was born 1842. Major died 1907 at 65 years of age.

245 v. William Sturgis was born March 17, 1840. William died April 8, 1917 at 77 years of age. He married twice. He married Anne Nelson. He married Danna Truitt. Danna was born 1853. Danna died 1870 at 17 years of age.

246 vi. John Irving Sturgis was born January 12, 1842. John died November 5, 1898 at 56 years of age. He married Phoebe J. Marvin. Phoebe was born April 16, 1848. Phoebe died August 18, 1905 at 57 years of age.

247 vii. Zadock Sturgis was born 1844.

248 viii. Alexander D, Sturgis was born 1846. Alexander died 1910 at 64 years of age. He married Mary Virginia Petitt 1873. Mary was born 1852. Mary died 1942 at 90 years of age.

249 ix. Littleton Sturgis was born 1849.
