54. EDMUND⁵ BAYLEY (III) (EDMUND⁴, HANNAH³ SCARBURGH, URSULA² WHITTINGTON, WILLIAM¹) (#267) was born about 1730. EDMUND died 1756 in Accomack Co. VA, at 26 years of age.

He married DOROTHY WAINHOUSE SCARBURGH about 1755. (DOROTHY WAINHOUSE SCARBURGH is #266.) DOROTHY was the daughter of MITCHELL SCARBURGH and DOROTHY WAINHOUSE. DOROTHY died 1763 in Accomack Co VA. Date of codicil to her father's will stating that she was deceased.

He made a will in Accomack Co. VA, December 18, 1756. (Nottingham, Wills & Admin. Accomack Co.VA, p. 188)

EDMUND's will was probated Accomack Co., VA, January 26, 1757. The tomb of Thomas Fisher shows his mother to be Rose Fisher, daughter of Maddox. The tomb also shows his father as Edmund, grandfather Edmund and great grandfather as Richard Bayly of Craddock. His wife's brother, Americus Scarburgh, was named guardian for Edmund's son, Thomas, infant heir at law. Tabitha Gilchrist, Edmund's sister, was a witness to his will. (Stratton Nottingham, Wills & Admin. Acc. Co., Ralph Whitelaw, VA Eastern Shore, p.980). The widow, Dorothy, married John Custis and had a son, Henry Custis.

Dorothy Scarburgh named her grandson, Henry Custis, in her 1775 will. She did not name any Bayly grandchildren. With the information from the tombstone (Ralph Whitelaw, VA Eastern Shore).

EDMUND BAYLEY (III) and DOROTHY WAINHOUSE SCARBURGH had the following children:

142 i. ROSE⁶ BAYLEY (#270) was born Accomack Co., VA about 1756. Rose (Rosanna) was named in the will of Edmund Scarburgh, brother of Dorothy. It is unclear whether Rose was daughter of Dorothy Scarburgh.

143 ii. THOMAS BAYLEY (#15924) was born Accomack Co., VA about 1756. Americus Scarburgh was named guardian for "infant heir at law" of Edmund Bayly.
