He married SARAH DOWNING UPSHUR in Northampton Co., VA, December 9, 1801. (SARAH DOWNING UPSHUR is #6805.) SARAH was born in Northampton Co., VA March 5, 1784. SARAH was the daughter of JOHN UPSHUR and MARGARET DOWNING. SARAH died before March 27, 1865 in Northampton Co., VA, at approximately 81 years of age. (Whitelaw, p.1011)

RICHARD D. BAYLY and SARAH DOWNING UPSHUR had the following children:

child 325 i. MARGARET ANN7 BAYLY (#7252) was born in Accomack Co. VA May 1, 1803. MARGARET died November, 1821 at 18 years of age. She married EDWARD H. KER in Accomack Co. VA, April 27, 1820. (EDWARD H. KER is #7253.) Information on Margaret, her husband and descendants is found in "The Littleton Heritage."

child 326 ii. THOMAS BAYLY (#13965) was born in Northampton Co., VA December 13, 1806. THOMAS died May, 1810 in Northampton Co., VA, at 3 years of age.

child + 327 iii. SARAH UPSHUR BAYLY was born November 24, 1808.

child 328 iv. ELIZABETH DENIS BAYLY (#13966) was born in Northampton Co., VA November 30, 1811. ELIZABETH died November 5, 1834 in Northampton Co., VA, at 22 years of age.

child 329 v. CATHERINE K. BAYLY (#6806) was born in Accomack Co. VA February 9, 1814. She married JOHN T. R. JOYNES. (JOHN T. R. JOYNES is #7251.) (Whitelaw; The Littleton Heritage)

child 330 vi. RACHEL UPSHUR BAYLY (#13967) was born in Northampton Co., VA August 9, 1816. RACHEL died September 14, 1832 in Northampton Co., VA, at 16 years of age.

child 331 vii. ANN DRUMMOND BAYLY (#13968) was born in Northampton Co., VA February 11, 1819. ANN died July 10, 1846 in Northampton Co., VA, at 27 years of age.

child 332 viii. MARGARET ELIZABETH BAYLY (#13969) was born in Northampton Co., VA June 21, 1825. MARGARET died June, 1826 in Northampton Co., VA, at less than one year of age.

child 333 ix. RICHARD DRUMMOND BAYLY (#13970) was born in Northampton Co., VA October, 1828. RICHARD died 1836 in Northampton Co., VA, at 7 years of age.
