WILLIAM ANDREWS' WILL
NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, VA 1771


In the name of God amen. I William Andrews of Northampton County being very sick and weak in body but of a perfect mind and memory, thanks be unto God for the same, and considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and knowing it is appointed for all mankind to die, I make and ordain this my last will & testament, revoking and _______ all other will or wills heretofore made by me, and first of all I give my soul to God that gave it to me relying on the merits of my _____saviour to have full pardon for all my sins and as for my wordy goods as God hath blessed me with I giv ___ & ____ as followith to whit-

Item I give and bequeath to my son Gray Andrews three Negroes called Eddy, Alex and ___ and my dog ____. 

Item I give and bequeath unto my son Abraham Andrews three Negroes ___, Hannah, Will and I am ____ my __ tools.

Item I give and bequeath to my son Abraham Andrews my land and plantation and eight cattle & six sheep.

Item I give and bequeath unto my son William Andrews four Negroes called Cato, Allen, ___ and Tam, one feather bed & furniture, eight pounds of ____ and six sheep and carpenters tools.

Item I give and bequeath to my son Green Andrews four Negroes called ____, Tom, Amy, & ____, one feather bed & furniture, eight pounds ____, & six sheep.

Item I give and bequeath to my son Green Andrews my _____ tools & shoemaker tools & my little gun.

Item I give & bequeath to my daughter Averilla Andrews, to her & her heirs lawfully begotten of her body, four Negroes called Phillis, Minca, Cherry, and Lewis. One feather bed & furniture.

Item I give my beloved wife Martha Andrews one Negro called Abagail and four head of cattle.

Item I leave the labor of four Negroes called ____, Phillis, Saul, and Cate & the use of our feather bed & furniture during her widowhood.

Item I leave my ready money after the payment of my just debts to be equally divided between Gray Andrews, Abraham Andrews, William Andrews, Green Andrews, and Averilla Andrews.

Item The remaining part of my estate which I have not given away to be equally divided between William Andrews, Green Andrews, and Averilla Andrews, after my wifes widowhood. I do appoint Gray Andrews, Abraham, and William Andrews my whole & sole ___ of this my last will & testament ____ 25th 1771.
