171. JONATHAN⁷ TILNEY (BETTY HARMANSON⁶ STRINGER, ELISHE⁵ HARMANSON, GRACE⁴ ANDREWS, WILLIAM³, WILLIAM², JOHN¹) (#921) was born after 1737. JONATHAN died before 1771 in Sussex Co. DE.

He married ELIZABETH STOCKLEY about 1756. (ELIZABETH STOCKLEY is #922.) Jonathan was a planter and moved to the vicinity of Milton, Delaware about 1800. (Virkus, Abridged Compendium of American Genealogy, Vol. 2, pp. 172-173)

Jonathan's wife, Elizabeth, married Charles Waller after his death. "Charles Waller, the Petitioner, intermarried with the widow and relict of Jonathan Tilney late of this county who died seized of a parcel of land which yet lies undivided...prays for appointment of five freeholders to lay of the widow's third; granted and appoints made February 29, 1772." (Orphans Court records Gustave Anjou, The Tilney Family 1658-1902, p. 66)

403 i. JOHN⁸ TILNEY (#12052) was born about 1756. On November 2nd, 1770, John Tilney, a minor, past 14 years, son of Jonathan Tilney, de'd., prayed admittance to choose for his guardian Charles Wallar. (Gustave Anjou, The Tilney Family 1658-1902, p. 66)
