13. John3 Bowen (William2, William1) was born about 1682. John died before 1758.

He married twice. He married Elizabeth Merrill. He married Comfort Truitt. Comfort was the daughter of George Truitt. In 1758, Comfort, widow of John, and her son, Luke, sold "Bowen's Discovery" to Rackliffe Bowen, son of Luke and grandson of Comfort. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records) John patented "Bowens Venture" in 1750, 100 acres. He gave a parcel to his son, Jethro, in 1753, and his daughter, Mary Carlisle, sold her portion in 1761. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records, p. 68)

John Bowen had the following children:

child 40 ii. Mary Bowen. She married William Carlisle before May 8, 1761. Mary and William went to Sussex Co., DE.

child 41 iii. John Bowen(Jr.).

child + 42 iv. Jesse Bowen.

child 43 v. Matthew Bowen. She married Unknown Jones.

child 44 vi. Martha Bowen. She married McClammey Jones.

John Bowen and Comfort Truitt had the following children:

child + 45 vii. Luke Bowen.

child 46 viii. William "Billy" Bowen. He married Sarah(wife of Billy Bowen). In 1767 John Bowen willed to son Billy 100 acres of "Landown." In 1770, William of John with wife Sarah and Comfort widow of John sold 100 acres of "Landown." (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records, p. 352)

child 47 ix. Sarah Bowen. She married Daniel Welch. Sarah and Daniel went to Sussex Co., DE.

child 48 x. Rachel Bowen.
