39. Jethro⁴ Bowen (John³, William², William¹) birth date unknown. Jethro died 1796 in Worcester Co., MD. Will dated January 5, 1793, probate July 9, 1796. He named sons Riley, James and Jeptha, and a Whitten Bowen to whom he gave 1 1/2 acre "Purnells Delight." He named Jeptha's sons Lemuel and Benjamin. Witnesses: William Morris, Esther Stevenson, James Davis. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Co. Will Book JW, f.254) Court appointed Rily Bowen executor, with bonds by Elijah Bowen and Jesse Bowen. He married Atlanta White. Atlanta was the daughter of William White and Esther Taylor. In 1765 he patented "Bowens Right" and was called Jethro son of John, 100 acres in Quepongo, resurvey of "Bowens Venture." (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records, p. 68) Jethro patented "Bowen's Discovery" in 1754. Whittington Bowen resurveyed in 1768 136 acres. In 1758, Comfort, widow of John, and her son, Luke, sold to Rackliffe Bowen son of Luke and grandson of Comfort. In 1762, Jethro and wife Atlanta sold 24 acres to Luke Bowen. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records) Jethro held 33 acres of "Englargement," which he sold to Edward Hammond in 1793. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records, p. 209-210) Jethro bought 30 acres of "Rounds Luck" from Edward Round and left to his sons James and Jeptha. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records, p. 532)

Jethro Bowen and Atlanta White had the following children:
