76. Whittington5 Bowen (Jr.) (Whittington4, William3, William2, William1) was born in Worcester Co., MD March 27, 1754. Whittington died 1816 in Worcester Co., MD, at 62 years of age. Will dated November 25, 1815, probate February 27, 1816. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Co. MD Will Book MH, f.176)

He married Rachel Jenkins in Worcester Co., MD, before December, 1782. Rachel was born about 1754. Rachel was the daughter of John Jenkins and Rachel(wife of John Jenkins). In 1784, Whittington Bowen Jr. patented 6 3/4 acres of "Small Purchase." (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records, p. 572) He patented 2 1/2 acres of "Small Lot" in 1793. He bought 102 1/2 acres of "Richards Chance" from Morgan Jones of NC. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records, pp. 519, 571) Whittington sold 7 acres of "Landown" in 1789 to Solomon Bradford "that came at death of his mother." (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records, p. 352) In 1789, he purchased part of "Killglass" from his father for 5 shillings. He patented 10 1/2 acres of "Bowens Lot" in 1798 and in 1815 willed to his daughter, Hetty Lucas, part of farm in Quepongo. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records, pp. 68, 345)

Rachel Truitt, executrix of Pattey Truitt, to exhibit inventory; citation issued for Whittington Bowin & Rachel, his wife, exex. of Pattey Truitt, December Court, 1782, continued from April Court, 1782. (David V. Heise, Worcester Co. MD Orphans Court Proceedings, p. 36) Orphans, Benjamin Truitt, 12, and Charlotte Truitt, 10, of Pattey were appointed Whittington Bowen, Jun. and Rachel Bown guardians. Sureties were Solomon Bradford and Joseph Green. Orphan Nancy Truitt, of Pattey, over 14, chose guardian Whittington Bowen, Jun. and Rachel Bowen, June Court, 1788. (David V. Heise, Worcester Co. He named his son James and daughter Hetty Lucas and grandchildren Hetty Whittington Lucas, Rachel Jenkins Lucas and Eliza Merrill.

Whittington Bowen(Jr.) had the following children:

Kendall died before 1813. She married Parker Lucas in Worcester Co., MD, October 29, 1811. Parker was born in Worcester Co., MD 1776. Parker died about 1830. Parker's first wife was Rhoda Bowen (c.1780-1810); unable to place this particular Rhoda. She was named in her father's will as Hetty Lucas and given part of farm in Quepongo. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records, pp. 68, 345) Her father also named her children: Hetty Whittington Lucas, Rachel Jenkins Lucas and Eliza Merrill.
