479. MATTHEW⁶ PURNELL (JOHN⁵, WILLIAM⁴, MATTHEW³, THOMAS², THOMAS¹) was born in Worcester Co., MD 1791. MATTHEW died 1857 in Worcester Co., MD, at 66 years of age. His body was interred in Worcester Co., MD, Makemie Presbyterian Church.

He married EUPHEMIA DUNCAN 1816. EUPHEMIA was born 1801. EUPHEMIA was the daughter of THOMAS DUNCAN and FRANCES "FANNY" MARSHALL*. EUPHEMIA died 1855 in Worcester Co., MD, at 54 years of age. Euphemia is a descendant of the Marshalls from Accomack Co. VA. (notes of James H. Marshall from research of Dr. William Rowley Bishop, Jr.) (children's names-Suzanne B. Hurley, Ocean City Lifesaving Museum; dates & burial-Melanie Ayres Merryweather, Genealogy of the Purnell Family, p.24) Matthew's descendants are traced in Genealogy of the Purnell Family by Melanie A. Merryweather.

710 ii. STEPHEN DUNCAN PURNELL. He married MARY JANE LAWS.

711 iii. JOHN MATTHEW PURNELL. He married SARAH ANN LEONARD.

712 iv. LEMUEL B. PURNELL. He married ANNIE M. ENNIS.

714 vi. MARGARET PURNELL.

715 vii. LEVI A. PURNELL. He married SARAH MESSICK.

716 viii. SARAH PURNELL. She married twice. She married UNKNOWN SEWELL (husband of Sarah Purnell). She married UNKNOWN COLLINS (husband of Sarah Purnell).

717 ix. CAROLINE PURNELL. She married UNKNOWN MARSHALL (husband of Caroline Purnell).
