29. John⁴ Thorowgood (Col.) (Adam³, Adam², William¹) was born 1661. John died 1701 in Princess Anne Co., VA, at 40 years of age.

He married twice. He married Sarah "Ann" Stringer about 1679. Sarah was the daughter of John Stringer(Col.) and Anne(wife of Col. John Stringer). She was called Ann Thoroughgood in her father's 1688 will.

He married Margaret Lawson March 19, 1695. Margaret was the daughter of Anthony Lawson(Lt. Col.) and Ann Keeling. John was a Justice of Princess Anne County and Sheriff in 1699. He was Captain of Militia in 1698, Major in 1699 and then Colonel. (Purse & Person, p. 617)

John Thorowgood(Col.) and Sarah "Ann" Stringer had the following children:

105 i. Anne⁵ Thorowgood. Anne died after 1692.

106 ii. Elizabeth Thorowgood was born before 1692. Elizabeth died 1712 in Princess Anne Co., VA, at 20 years of age. She married William Moseley(III) about 1704. William was the son of William Moseley(Jr.) and Blandinah Poole. William died about 1750.

John Thorowgood(Col.) and Margaret Lawson had the following children:

+ 107 iii. John Thorowgood(Jr.).

108 iv. Anthony Thorowgood. Anthony died about 1705.

109 v. Margaret Thorowgood. Margaret died about 1750. She married Thomas Walke(III). Thomas was the son of Thomas Walke(Jr.) and Katherine(wife of Thomas Walke). Thomas died 1761 in Princess Anne Co., VA. He made a will in Princess Anne Co., VA, November 28, 1760. (Purse & Person, p. 618) (Purse & Person, p. 618)
