He married LUCY LONG in Woodford Co. KY, August 5, 1791. (Kentucky Marriage Records, Genealogical Publishing Co., Baltimore, MD, 1983) (LUCY LONG is #6296.) LUCY was the daughter of JOHN LONG (Sr.) and MARY HAYNES. Lucy was one of the heroines who, at age seven, carried water to the men in the fort at Bryan's Station KY. 224 v. ANNA WHITTINGTON (#6908) was born in KY 1799. ANNA died 1830 at 31 years of age. She married HANDY T. DAVIS. (HANDY T. DAVIS is #6909.) Moved to Indiana.

225 vi. JOHN LONG WHITTINGTON (#6910) was born in KY 1801. JOHN died 1844 at 43 years of age.

226 vii. JAMES WHITTINGTON (#6911) was born in KY 1802. JAMES died 1833 at 31 years of age.

227 viii. WILLIAM HANDY WHITTINGTON (#6912) was born in KY 1804. WILLIAM died 1855 at 51 years of age. He married twice. He married ADELIA KAVANAUGH. (ADELIA KAVANAUGH is #6913.) He married ANN KAVANAUGH. (ANN KAVANAUGH is #6914.) William was a minister of the Christian Church. (Wise)

228 ix. ATTALANTA WHITTINGTON (#6899) was born in Annemessex, Somerset Co. MD 1806. ATTALANTA died 1878 in Woodford Co. KY, at 72 years of age. She married RANDOLPH RAILEY DARNELL. (RANDOLPH RAILEY DARNELL is #6900.) The story goes that William and Lucy went on horseback to Somerset Co. and returned in the spring with new daughter, Attalanta. 231 xii. SAMUEL SHANNON WHITTINGTON (#6925) was born in KY 1812. SAMUEL died 1840 at 28 years of age.
