He married Leah Garrettson 8 Jan 1813 (lic) in Somerset Co, MD.⁽³⁶¹⁾ Leah was born circa 1792.⁽³⁶²⁾ Leah died 1854 in Somerset Co, MD, at 62 years of age.⁽³⁶³⁾

Purnell Trader and Leah Garrettson had the following children:

116 i. Thomas G.⁹ Trader⁽³⁶⁴⁾ was born, circa 1814. Thomas died 1871 at 57 years of age. He was listed as a resident in the census report 1850 in Salisbury Dist, Somerset Co, MD.

117 ii. Christopher C. Trader⁽³⁶⁵⁾ was born, circa 1817.

118 iii. Freeborn G. Trader⁽³⁶⁶⁾ was born, circa 1819.

119 iv. Adaline Trader⁽³⁶⁷⁾ was born, circa 1821.
