28. John³ Marshall (Thomas John², Patience¹ "V") was born in Northampton Co., VA about 1752. John died before 1785.

He married Frances Sherwood in Caroline Co., MD, 1775. (notes of Vern Skinner from Caroline co., MD marriage licenses) Frances was the daughter of Philip Sherwood.

Frances died after 1802. In 1801, John Stevens, Esq. and his wife Frances purchased a lot in East New Market from Levin Marshall (this would be Levin, brother of John Marshall, Frances' first husband) (Dorcester Co. land records 19.207, 209 researched by Vern Skinner) Notes of Jim Marshall: John and Theophilus were in possession of "Carthegenia Point" on 1783 Dorchester tax list.

Vernon Skinner shows John married Frances Sherwood, daughter of Philip and sister of Elizabeth Sherwood, who married John's brother, Theophilus.

John is listed on the 1783 Tax List. Frances married second John Stevens, Esq. on July 28, 1785, Dorchester Co., MD.

John was executor of his father's estate (Dorchester Accouts Liber 73 202 May 1, 1775)

1783 John Marshall has 6 persons in household, including Levin & Mary, siblings.

John Marshall and Frances Sherwood had the following child:
