87. Thomas⁴ Purnell (Walton³, Thomas², Thomas¹) was born in Worcester Co., MD before August 15, 1755. Thomas died 1831 in Worcester Co., MD.

He married Mary Purnell. Mary was born in Worcester Co., MD before 1772. Mary was the daughter of Thomas Purnell(of Sinepuxent) and Comfort Purnell. Her children, Walton, William and Thomas, were named by her sister, Sarah Marshall, in 1802. Walton, William and Eliza were named by her sister, Elizabeth Purnell in 1818.

He made a will in Worcester Co., MD, July 9, 1831. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Co. MD Wills MH 1822-1833, p. 39)

Thomas's will was probated in Worcester Co., MD, November 15, 1831. A Catherine Wildman bequeathed to him money from rents of her Snow Hill properties in her will dated August 19, 1755. He owned land at "Venture" and "Poplar Neck." He named two of his children in his will, daughter Elizabeth and son William; friends John L. Purnell and John Mitchell were executors.

Thomas Purnell and Mary Purnell had the following children:

284 i. Thomas⁵ Purnell was born about 1787. He married Charlotte Collins in Worcester Co., MD, September 15, 1812. He was named in the will of his aunt, Sarah Marshall, in 1802.

285 ii. Walton F. Purnell was born before 1802. He was named in the will of his aunt, Sarah Marshall in 1802 and by aunt, Elizabeth Purnell in 1818, and Zipporah Purnell in 1823. He was not named in his father's 1831 will.

286 iii. William Purnell(Dr.) was born before 1802. William died after 1831. He was named in the will of his aunt, Sarah Marshall, in 1802 and his aunt, Elizabeth Purnell, in 1818, and aunt Zipporah Purnell in 1823. He was named in his father's will in 1831.

287 iv. Elizabeth Walton Purnell was born before 1818. Elizabeth died after 1831. She married William Holland in Worcester Co., MD, October 4, 1831. She was named in her father's will. (marriage-Suzanne B. Hurley, Ocean City Lifesaving Museum)
