584. William Undrill⁶ Purnell (Littleton Robins⁵, William⁴, Elisha³, Thomas², Thomas¹) was born in Worcester Co., MD December 26, 1801. William died May 14, 1853 in Worcester Co., MD. His body was interred in Worcester Co., MD, All Hallows Cemetery.

He married Eleanor "Ellen" Horsey Robins in Worcester Co., MD, June 11, 1823. Eleanor was born in Worcester Co., MD November 9, 1803. Eleanor was the daughter of James Bowdoin Robins(Judge) and Elizabeth Horsey. Eleanor died March 13, 1853 in Worcester Co., MD. Her body was interred in Worcester Co., MD. Dryden, Dryden Family & Descendants, Alamo, TX, 1999, p. 87) William and Ellen are shown with their family in the 1850 census. William's sister, Esther, is living with them. 920 i. Elizabeth Mary⁷ Purnell was born in Worcester Co., MD December, 1824. Elizabeth died 1866 in Worcester Co., MD. Her body was interred in Worcester Co., MD. She married Denard W. Johnson in Worcester Co., MD, May 23, 1859. (Mary Beth & Vanessa Long, Worcester Marriage Records)

Denard was born about 1825. Denard died February 7, 1906 in Worcester Co., MD. Her children and grandchildren are listed in Melanie Ayres Merryweather's Genealogy of the Purnell Family.

921 ii. Littleton Robins Purnell was born in Worcester Co., MD February 13, 1826. Littleton died January 3, 1884 in Worcester Co., MD. His body was interred in Worcester Co., MD. He married Ellen Wilson 1855. Ellen died after 1860. Littleton is listed as a lawyer in the 1850 census of Worcester County.

922 iii. James Bowdoin Robins Purnell(Dr,) was born in Worcester Co., MD November 3, 1829. James died March 7, 1909 in Worcester Co., MD. His body was interred in Worcester Co., MD, All Hallows. He married twice. He married Elizabeth K. Ayres 1862. Elizabeth was born in Worcester Co., MD 1831. Elizabeth was the daughter of Lambert Purnell Ayres and Nancy Richardson. Elizabeth died 1898 in Worcester Co., MD. Her body was interred in Worcester Co., MD, All Hallows. He married Margaret Spence after 1898. Margaret was born in Worcester Co., MD November 18, 1865. Margaret was the daughter of Irving Spence and Virginia Elizabeth Humphreys. Margaret died January 6, 1910 in Worcester Co., MD. (Leslie P. Dryden, Dryden Family & Descendants, Alamo, TX, 1999) He is shown as a doctor, living in a hotel, age 29, in 1850 census of Worcester Co., MD. Ft. Chessid Purnell is the same hotel. James had two children who died in childhood; see Melanie Ayres Merryweather's Genealogy of the Purnell Family.

923 iv. John Robins Purnell was born in Worcester Co., MD May 5, 1832. John died August 3, 1902 in Worcester Co., MD. His body was interred in Worcester Co., MD. He married twice. He married Emma Catharine Dirickson 1860. Emma was born December 20, 1837. Emma was the daughter of John C. Dirickson and Catherine(wife of John Dirickson). Emma died March 18, 1866 in Worcester Co., MD. Her body was interred in Worcester Co., MD. (dates-Melanie Ayres Merryweather, Genealogy of the Purnell Family, p.35)

He married Margaret Tabitha Stevenson 1869. Margaret was born 1828. Margaret was the daughter of Edward Stevenson(Rev.) and Elizabeth(wife of Edward Stevenson). Margaret died 1914 in Worcester Co., MD. Her body was interred in Worcester Co., MD. He is living next to his father in the 1850 census. John and Emma are buried at Berlin, MD. His descendants are traced further in Melanie Ayres Merryweather's Genealogy of the Purnell Family.

924 v. William Thomas Purnell was born in Worcester Co., MD February 11, 1838. William died October 25, 1902 in AL. He married Andasia Robins 1868. Andasia was the daughter of John Littleton Bowdoin Robins and Henrietta Showell. Andasia died in AL.

925 vi. George Washington Purnell was born in Worcester Co., MD April 14, 1841. George died May 8, 1899 in Worcester Co., MD. His body was interred in Worcester Co., MD. He married Margaret Duer Bowen June 2, 1870. (Family Bible of his uncle, Littleton Bowen)

Margaret was born April 14, 1841. Margaret died November 17, 1917. His eight children are traced in Melanie Ayres Merryweather's Genealogy of the Purnell Family, p. 36. His home in Snow Hill was located on the north side of East Market Street. The property was later owned by his daughter, Frances Purnell Thebaud. A lawyer, George Purnell purchased this property in 1877 and before had rented a house next to it. His law office stood on the northeast corner of the courthouse yard during the 1870's.
