1031. Nathaniel James⁹ Winder (Susanna⁸ Harmanson, George⁷, Argall⁶, Elizabeth⁵ Yeardley, Sarah⁴ Michael, Elizabeth³ Thorowgood, Adam², William¹) was born December 16, 1794. Nathaniel died August 2, 1844 at 49 years of age.

He married twice. He married Margaret Susan Bowdoin in Northampton Co., VA, November 21, 1821. Margaret was born September 9, 1807. Margaret was the daughter of Peter Bowdoin and Leah Teackle. Margaret died January 28, 1826 at 18 years of age. Buried at Hungar's Farm, Northampton Co., VA.

He married Sarah Upshur Bayly in Northampton Co., VA, October 18, 1826. (Ralph T. Whitelaw, Virginia's Eastern Shore; Matthew M. Wise, The Littleton Heritage)

Sarah was born in Accomack Co., VA November 24, 1808. (The Littleton Heritage) Sarah was the daughter of Richard Drummond Bayly and Sarah Downing Upshur.

Sarah died June 25, 1869 at 60 years of age. Sarah's daughter, Sarah Caroline, is named in Whitelaw. Wise shows all of Sarah's descendants in "The Littleton Heritage." Nathaniel James Winder and Sarah Upshur Bayly had the following children:

1398 i. Richard Bayly¹⁰ Winder was born 1828. He married Elizabeth L. Custis 1848. Elizabeth was born 1831. Elizabeth died after 1850.

1399 ii. Sarah Caroline Winder was born December 26, 1830. Sarah died after 1892. She married George Kerr(Dr.) 1849. George was born March 20, 1825. George was the son of John Kerr and Mary Jacob Waddey. George died 1892 at 67 years of age.

1400 iii. Mary Catherine Winder was born 1833. She married Charles Howard July 11, 1855. Charles was born 1830.

1401 iv. William N. J. Winder was born March 10, 1836. William died April 30, 1861 at 25 years of age.
