42. WILLIAM⁴ WHITTINGTON (COL.) (SOUTHY³, WILLIAM², WILLIAM¹) (#1214) was born in Somerset Co. MD about 1740. WILLIAM died 1818 in Somerset Co. MD, at 78 years of age.

He married PRISCILLA POLK 1760. (PRISCILLA POLK is #1215.) PRISCILLA was born about 1740. PRISCILLA was the daughter of JAMES POLK and ELIZABETH. PRISCILLA died about 1834. William was a Colonel in the militia during the Revolution. (DAR records, no further information; Woodrow T. Wilson, 34 Families)

William named his wife and son, James, in his will dated December 29, 1815. He also named his grandchildren. (Ruth T. Dryden, Somerset Co. MD Wills 1800-1820 EB23, San Diego, CA, p. 70)

WILLIAM WHITTINGTON (Col.) and PRISCILLA POLK had the following children:

119 ii. ELIZABETH WHITTINGTON (#6512) was born about 1761. She married MITCHELL RUSSUM. (MITCHELL RUSSUM is #6513.) Elizabeth's descendants are continued in "The Littleton Heritage."

121 iv. WILLIAM WHITTINGTON (#6514) was born about 1765. WILLIAM died before 1806.

+ 122 v. MARY JANE POLK WHITTINGTON was born about 1769.

+ 123 vi. ISAAC JOSEPH WHITTINGTON was born about 1770.

124 vii. ELEANOR WHITTINGTON (#7173) was born about 1773. She married J. HARPER. (J. HARPER is #7174.) (Matthew Wise, The Littleton Heritage)

+ 125 viii. JAMES WHITTINGTON was born about 1775.
