William was born in Somerset Co., MD May 18, 1805. William was the son of Samuel Polk and Sarah I. Gilliss. William died December 17, 1875 in Somerset Co., MD, at 70 years of age. William was a merchant and business man at Princess Anne, an elder at Manokin Presbyterian Church and Clerk of the Circuit Court. He married 1st in 1826 Louisa J. Harcum, 2nd Elizabeth Gilliss Woolford and 3rd Mary Ann Henry. His children are traced in Matthew Wise's, The Littleton Heritage, p. 301-2. Buried at Manokin Cemetery, Princess Anne, MD.
