484. Milby6 Purnell (Thomas5, Levi4, Matthew3, Thomas2, Thomas1) birth date unknown. Milby died 1805 in Worcester Co., MD.

He married twice. He married Daughter (Milly) Hammond before 1795. Daughter was the daughter of Edward Hammond. He married Amelia Parker in Worcester Co., MD, December 8, 1795.

He made a will in Worcester Co., MD, July 15, 1805. Milby's will was probated in Worcester Co., MD, August 9, 1805. Milby was under age 18 in 1774. His father left him the plantation in the possession of his Uncle Azariah and 8 acres of branch and timber being part of this tract. Milby's wife at the time of his death was Milly; she renounced and took her thirds. Melanie Merryweather shows he married Amelia Parker in 1795. Milby states that Edward Hammon was grandfather to his son, Levi. He named his cousins (nephews) Thomas Dixon Purnell and William Purnell of Quepongo as executors. Milby asked in his will that his wife "raise and school my children without making any charge against them" and it would appear they were her step-children. Witnesses were Esme Purnell, Levin Holland, John Challie, George W. Purnell.

Milby Purnell and Amelia Parker had the following children:

child 817 i. Hetty7 Purnell. She was under age 16 in 1805. Hetty was named in the will of William Purnell in 1819 as a child of Milby.

child 818 ii. Thomas Purnell. His father gave him "Purnells Industry. He was named as cousin by Thomas D. Purnell in 1814 and named in the will of William Purnell in 1819 as a child of Milby.

child 819 iii. Amelia "Milly" Purnell. She married Charles Rider in Worcester Co., MD, December 5, 1820. She was under age in 1805. She was called daughter of Milby and named in the will of Thomas D. Purnell in 1814, calling her niece. She may be the Amelia H. Purnell who married December 5, 1820 Charles Rider. There is a marriage record in Worcester County and a 1821 Guardian Bond in Worcester County ordered by consent of Turner Davis, Gdn. to William Purnell ward, that his guardianship be rescinded and that Charles Rider bre appointee guardian to the said minor. child 820 iv. William Purnell was born after 1800. His father left him lands that he'd bought with Charles Hammond. He was named as cousin by Thomas D. Purnell in 1814 and named in the will of William Purnell in 1819 as a child of Milby. There's a guardian record for him in 1821, showing him a minor and that his guardianship be rescinded by consent of Turner Davis, Gdn., and that Charles Rider be appointee guardian. (Wor. Co.
