He married twice. He married Comfort Quinton Gore in Worcester Co., MD, May 19, 1807. Comfort was the daughter of Thomas Teackle Gore and Unknown Quinton. Comfort died before 1816. She was under age in 1797. (Bill Wilkins)

He married Sarah Christian Snead in Northampton Co., VA, 1816. Sarah was born 1784. Sarah was under age at the time of her father's death. (ref: Marshall) Sarah was the daughter of Smith Snead(Jr.) and Rosetta "Rose" Christian.

Sarah died 1845 in Northampton Co., VA, at 61 years of age. Her body was interred in Eastville, Northampton Co., VA, Christ Church. She was under age in 1792. (Thomas Teackle Upshur, Sir George Yeardley or Yardley, American Historical Magazine, Nashville, TN 1896)

child 1280 i. Rosina Christian10 Winder was born in Northampton Co., VA 1820. Rosina died after 1857. She married George Seth Guion October 8, 1857. George was born in MS 1806. George was the son of Isaac Guion and Sarah Lewis.

child 1281 ii. John Edward Winder was born 1823. John died 1897 at 74 years of age.

John Harmanson Winder and Comfort Quinton Gore had the following children:

child 1394 iii. Susan Comfort Winder. Susan died after 1853. She married Robert Major Garrett 1835. Robert was born 1808. Robert died after 1853.

child 1395 iv. Lauretta A. Winder was born in Northampton Co., VA March 15, 1808. Lauretta died February 27, 1879 at 70 years of age. She married Thomas Lyttleton Savage in Northampton Co., VA, April 2, 1851. Thomas was born in Northampton Co., VA November 19, 1798. Thomas was the son of Thomas Lyttleton Savage and Margaret "Peggy" Teackle. Thomas died April 25, 1855 in York Co., VA, at 56 years of age.

child 1396 v. Charlotte L. Winder was born February 28, 1810. Charlotte died November 28, 1871 at 61 years of age. She married William P. Nottingham November 28, 1837. William was born May 19, 1806. William died May 27, 1876 at 70 years of age.
