994. William Gilmore⁹ Smith (Isaac⁸, Isaac⁷, Sarah⁶ West, Frances⁵ Yeardley, Sarah⁴ Michael, Elizabeth³ Thorowgood, Adam², William¹) was born September 23, 1801. William died February 29, 1876 at 74 years of age.

He married Elizabeth Upshur Bowdoin November 25, 1825. Elizabeth was born October 19, 1807. Elizabeth was the daughter of Peter Bowdoin and Leah Teackle. Elizabeth died January 2, 1881 at 73 years of age. Buried at Christ Church, Eastville, Northampton Co., VA. (Bill Wilkins) Buried at Christ Church, Eastville, VA.

William Gilmore Smith and Elizabeth Upshur Bowdoin had the following children:

1381 i. William Gilmore¹⁰ Smith (Jr.) was born 1827. William died August 15, 1839 at 12 years of age.

1382 ii. Louisa Bowdoin Smith was born 1829. Louisa died April 16, 1842 at 12 years of age.

1383 iii. Peter Bowdoin Smith was born December 23, 1830. Peter died March 13, 1899 at 68 years of age. He married Catherine Adelia Cropper. Catherine was born September 23, 1839. Catherine died November 13, 1915 at 76 years of age.

1384 iv. Charles Smith(Dr.) was born in Eastville, Northampton Co., VA April 13, 1832. Charles died December 30, 1907 at 75 years of age. He married Margaret "Maggie" Wilson Jacob in Northampton Co., VA, November 7, 1865. Margaret was born in Northampton Co., VA October 13, 1843. Margaret was the daughter of Teackle (White or William) Jacob and Rachel Upshur Bayly. Margaret died January 2, 1922 in Franktown, Northampton Co., VA, at 78 years of age. Maggie and Charles are buried at Wellington, Franktown, Northampton Co., VA. 1850 census.

1385 v. Elizabeth Bowdoin Smith was born September 8, 1838. Elizabeth died January 1, 1900 at 61 years of age. She married Hamilton Smith Neale June 6, 1860. Hamilton was born April 8, 1821. Hamilton died February 3, 1890 at 68 years of age.

1386 vi. Margaret S. Smith was born April 17, 1841. Margaret died December 2, 1925 at 84 years of age. She married James B. Craighill November 23, 1870. James was born July 28, 1838. James died February 4, 1913 at 74 years of age.

1387 vii. Maria Hopkinson Smith was born February 15, 1843. Maria died April 8, 1910 at 67 years of age. She married Ellison Louis Costin September 26, 1866. Ellison was born November 14, 1835. Ellison died October 12, 1910 at 74 years of age.

1388 viii. Louise "Susie" Bowdoin Smith was born about 1845. Louise died after 1875. She married Charles Teackle Bowdoin November 3, 1875. Charles was born October 25, 1850. Charles was the son of Severn Eyre Bowdoin and Laura A. E. Upshur. Charles died after 1875.
