1163. James Dennis⁹ Hack (Cave Jones⁸, Peter⁷, Ann⁶ Custis, Henry⁵, Margaret⁴ Michael, Elizabeth³ Thorowgood, Adam², William¹) was born in Worcester Co., MD January 1, 1838. James died after 1869.

He married twice. He married Caroline E. Ballard in Somerset Co., MD, January 12, 1859. Caroline was born November 17, 1839. Caroline was the daughter of Daniel James Ballard and Eleanor Gillis Waters. Caroline died March 6, 1866 at 26 years of age. Buried at Ballard-Maddox cemetery. (Bill Wilkins)

He married Clara Georgia Dashiell in Somerset Co., MD, June 23, 1868.

James Dennis Hack and Caroline E. Ballard had the following children:

1545 i. Charlotte Dennis¹⁰ Hack was born about 1861.

1546 ii. Glenmore Waters Hack was born about 1864.

1547 iii. Caroline Susan Ballard Hack was born about 1866.

1548 iv. Mary Virginia Hack was born 1869.
