1175. John Francis9 Thorowgood (John8, John7, Francis6, Francis5, Francis4, Adam3, Adam2, William1) was born in Worcester Co., MD January 23, 1816. (Thomas Underhill Family Bible copied by Pierce Eichelberger)

He married twice. He married Mary R. Fentress August 18, 1840. He married Mary Antoinette Whitehurst March 15, 1849. She was the daughter of William Whitehurst and Mary Lovett. It is not proved that Francis is John's father beyond circumstantial: John Francis appears in the 1850 census of Norfolk Co. and his name was spelled "Thorogood." Francis spelled his name this was in the 1830 census of Norfolk Co.. The 1830 census also showed Francis with a son in the right age bracket to be John Francis. child 1549 i. William John10 Thorowgood was born in Northampton Co., VA March 25, 1850. William died March 27, 1943 in Washington, DC, at 93 years of age. He married Ada Forrest Willett in Northampton Co., VA, April 28, 1880. She was the daughter of Charles Willett and Rosalind Ellington.

child 1550 ii. Caldonia Thorowgood was born in Worcester Co., MD December 22, 1852. Caldonia died January, 1927 at 74 years of age. She married George A. Stevens November 17, 1875.

child 1551 iii. Irene E. Thorowgood was born in Northampton Co., VA October 28, 1856. Irene died January 17, 1883 at 26 years of age. She married Joseph A. Cuthriell December 12, 1877.

child 1552 iv. Frances Thorowgood was born in Northampton Co., VA September 10, 1860. She married H. K. Baird.

child 1553 v. Virginia Thorowgood was born in Princess Anne Co., VA August 7, 1863. Virginia died about 1930. She married James M. Lewis June 15, 1877.

child 1554 vi. Fletcher Thorowgood was born in Northampton Co., VA June 15, 1867. Fletcher died February 14, 1868 at less than one year of age.

child 1555 vii. Mary Antionette Thorowgood was born in Northampton Co., VA December 18, 1869. Mary died September 20, 1945 at 75 years of age. She married John R. Phillip.
