He married Elizabeth 'Betty' Rogers about 1730. Elizabeth was the daughter of Nathaniel Comfort Rogers and Jane West. Elizabeth died 1797 in Northampton Co., VA. Will dated November 25, 1797, probate December 11, 1797. (James H. Marshall, Wills & Administrations of Northampton Co., VA, p. 536) She named her daughter Peggy Simkins, grandson William Dunton, granddaughters Elizabeth Fulwell, Peggy James and Elizabeth Dunton and son Rickards Dunton. William was a planter. He named daughter Ann simpkins, grandson Arthur Simpkins, daughter Jane Dunton, daughter Elizabeth, daughter Rosannah, daughter Sarah Dunton, daughter Matilda, son Rickards, and wife Betty.

William Dunton and Elizabeth 'Betty' Rogers had the following children:
