267. William⁷ Marshall (Theophilus⁶, Thomas John⁵, Thomas⁴, John³, Thomas², John¹) was born September 30, 1779. William died 1820 in Dorchester Co., MD, at 40 years of age.

He married Elizabeth (wife of William Marshall). Elizabeth, wife of a William Marshall d. 1820 Dorchester, married 2nd Thomas Wingate before 1832. William's date of birth was taken from his apprenticeship indenture to learn the business of County Clerk under Henry Dickinson, Dorchester Deeds HD 4, p. 592, November 1, 1793. (Notes of James H. William and his father were witnesses in the Dorchester County Court in October, 1804 Trippe vs Pritchett. (Dorcester County Maryland Genealogical Magazine, Vol. XII, No. 1, May, 1992, p.9)

It is not proved that the William Marshall d. 1820 is one and the same as son of Theophilus.

1832 Tax List of Cambridge District #7, Dorchester Co., MD shows: A William Marshall coll on Thomas Wingate. On the same tax list are: Mark N. Marshall, Levin Marshall, Jonathan Marshall, Ann Maria Marshall, and Lavinia A. Marshall.

William Marshall and Elizabeth(wife of William Marshall) had the following children:

573 i. Edward A.⁸ Marshall was born 1812. Edward died April 2, 1878 in Dorchester Co., MD, at 65 years of age. In the case of State of Maryland vs Eliza Stanley for stealing a pound of cheese from Edward A. Marshall, Eliza Stanley was found not guilty in Dorchester County Court, October Term 1837. Marriage records show an Edward A. Marshall & Sarah E. Ward (widow) got a marriage license on February 16, 1864. (Dorchester County Maryland Genealogical Magazine Vol IX No5, Jan. 1990, p. 5) Bible record at Zion United Methodist Church at Cambridge show: Edward A. Marshall married Mrs. Sarah E. Cambridge Era Newspaper of Saturday, April 6, 1878 notes Mr. E. A. Marshall was stricken with pardysis on Tuesday Night.

574 ii. Lavinia A. Marshall was born after 1816. She married William Willoughby in Dorchester Co., MD, before 1841. She is shown as a minor in 1834. Her name is on the 1832 tax list as Marshall. Court records of 1841 show her married.

575 iii. Elizabeth Marshall was born after 1816. She is shown as a minor in 1816.
