She married John Sturgis (V) in Worcester Co., MD, 1816. John was born in Worcester Co., MD after 1774. John was the son of John Sturgis(IV) and Mary Purnell. John inherited remainder of his father's land at "Rochester."

1800 census: 2M-10, 1M26-45, 1F26-45 1810 census: probably the John 1M-10, 1M10-16, 1M16-26, 1M26-45, 2F10-16, 1F16-26, 1F26-45, 1F45+ 1820 census - is he the John Sr.

John Sturgis marriages: Nancy Bishop in 1797; Polly Waters in 1805; Mary Rownd in 1816. This his first wife was Nancy Bishop is by deduction through Worcester marriage records, census and the various John Sturgis; however, there appears to be some sort of relation to Major Mumford d. 1816.

John is probably the John Sturgis, executor of estate of Major Mumford in 1816 and who Mumford called 'friend.' Major Mumford also named John Sturgis, son of John in his will.

Mary released her dower in 1851. She is probably the Mary Sturgis, age 63, living in the household of Thomas S. Porter in 1850.

John Sturgis(V) and Mary Rounds had the following children:

561 i. Hester "Hetty"⁶ Sturgis was born about 1820. She married Peter Cherrix in Worcester Co., MD, October 22, 1839.

562 ii. Zipporah Sturgis was born about 1821. She married Elijah Knock in Worcester Co., MD, May 3, 1845.

563 iii. ?Elisabeth Sturgis was born about 1823. ?Elisabeth died about 1850. She married Thomas S. Porter in Worcester Co., MD, January 7, 1847.
