193. John5 Purnell (Of Sussex DE) (William4, John3, Thomas2, Thomas1) was born before 1765. John died December 28, 1831 in Fleming Co., KY.
He married three times. He married Elizabeth May about 1790. Elizabeth was from Delaware. She is shown with her husband in Sussex, DE in 1801.
He married Sarah Seymore Minors about 1804. Sarah was born August 17, 1764. Sarah was the daughter of Robert Minors and Mary Magdaline Polk. Sarah died February 2, 1813. (Polk Family & Kinsmen)
He married Comfort Julia Madison after 1813. Comfort died October 20, 1866. John was named orphan of William Purnell on October 12, 1779 and was over age 14. (David Heise, Wor. Co. Orphans Court Proceedings, pp. 86-89; Liber JW15) In 1802, John sold land as son of William of John to Elizabeth Purnell daughter of Thomas. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records, p. 615) In 1800, John Purnell with wife Elizabeth of Sussex Co., DE and Reuben Anderson with wife Nancy Anderson of Kent Co., DE appoint brother and friend Thomas Purnell of Maryland to sell equity in "Golden Valley;" In 1801 John Purnell son of William which he had by Elizabeth Fassitt, with wife Elizabeth Purnell of Sussex Co., DE and Reuben Anderson with wife Nancy Anderson, daughter of William Purnell, sold to Elizabeth Smock 250 acres. John's third wife was Comfort Julia Madison (Family Tree Maker Disk 23, Pedigree 2657) and John died in Fleming Co., KY, leaving a will there dated December 23, 1831 and probated February 6, 1832. John's will named children: William, Francis, John, Bamry, Anna, Mary, Sarah, Betsey, and Thamer, and his wife, Comfort and his children by her: Martha, Nancy, Hermy, Madison and James. (Will Bk D, p. 229, Fleming Co. KY Wills) John names five children by wife, Comfort. He named nine other children, and it is not clear who their mother was.
John is shown selling land in 1800 and 1801, but it is unclear when he went to Fleming Co., KY. John's nephew, Zadock Purnell Gibbs was in Kentucky in 1805.

D. Purnell at 1800, his mother was probably Elizabeth May.

Madison Purnell was born in VA 1816. Madison died September, 1895. He married twice. He married Sarah Ann Ross in Fleming Co., KY, June 1, 1836. Sarah was born in Fleming Co.,
