131. Sarah "Sally"5 Atkinson (Daughter4 Purnell, Thomas3, Thomas2, Thomas1) birth date unknown.

She married Zadock Purnell (Senator). (notes of Suzanne B. Hurley, Ocean City Lifesaving Museum)

Zadock was born 1764. Zadock was the son of Thomas Purnell(of Sinepuxent) and Comfort Purnell. Zadock died May 31, 1828 in Worcester Co., MD. (John S. Purnell Bible records at MHS give his date of death and that he was age 64 at that time-notes of Vernon L. Skinner)

He made a will in Worcester Co., MD, August 29, 1827. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Co., MD Wills MH, p. 27)

Zadock's will was probated in Worcester Co., MD, July 8, 1828. Zadock received "Genezar" and "Pleasant" from his father. He also owned land at "Purnells Grove." (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records) Zadock purchased much of the land left by his Uncle Zadock's estate to various heirs and in one such purchase is referred to as Senator. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Land Records) Zadock also owned "Watermelon Point Farm." Zadock named his daughter, Sally Maria Spence and left her the "plantation where I live, the farm where my uncle Col. Zadock Purnell lived, then to my grandson Zadock Purnell Spence, part of Genezar and Pleasant that belonged to uncle Zadock and part of Gotin (Goshen & Mayfield), Partnership and Confirmation. He named son-in-law Dr. John S. Spence as executor. Witnesses were George W. Purnell, Thomas Purnell of William and Thomas R. L. Spence. (Ruth T. Dryden, Worcester Co. MD Wills 1822-1833 MH, f. 337) Named granddaughter by Thomas & Mary Purnell. It is NOT proved that this is the same Sarah "Sally" Atkinson who married Zadock Purnell.
