846. Isaac7 Purnell (Milby Selby6, Zadock5, Thomas4, Matthew3, Thomas2, Thomas1) was born in Worcester Co., MD August 13, 1812. Isaac died after 1870. He married Sarah Campbell about 1835. Sarah was born in MD 1814. Census records show her name as Sarah "C." On November 3, 1842, Isaac Purnell and Sarah his wife and Thomas Campbell of Worcester Co., MD sold for $100 150 acres of "Addition" formerly belonging to William Campbell. Wit. Handy Burbage and George Truitt. (Worcester Co. Land Records, FHL #0014561, p.5-Karen L. Robert & George I. Purnell III, Descendants of Thomas Purnell, private, 1999) Sarah is shown age 30 in 1850 census. Isaac was bound to Severn Pruett as an apprentice until age 21 to learn the trade of a house carpenter, by his father on April 18, 1829. Isaac deserted by October 25, 1830, when Severn Pruett of Snow Hill oferred a reward for him in the Snow Hill Messenger. (Worcester Co. indenture, FHL #0014580, p.565) On October 12, 1839, Lotty Purnell, General Washington Purnell and Peggy Purnell sold 9 acres of "Collins Delight" to Isaac Purnell for $23. Wit. William Truitt & Levi Duncan. (Worcester Co. Land Records FHL #0014561, p.40) On February 10, 1844, Isaac and his wife Sally sold this land back to General Washington Purnell, 9 acres, for $60. (Worcester Co. Land Records, FHL #0014562, p.180) Isaac is shown working in agriculture in 1840 and as a hewer in 1850. In 1870 he is called a farmer. In his 1870 household are Mary H. Purnell, age 1, and Augusta Stephenson, age 5. Their relationship to Isaac and Sarah are unknown. Mary H. Purnell is listed under Margaret Purnell rather than under Isaac and Sallie. A Littleton Irving, age 14, was also living in the household as a day laborer. (Karen L. Robert & George I.
